Yvonne Casey and daughter Danine Birkholm of Calgary arrived in Nova Scotia May 14. On the way home from the airport, they stopped into Danny and Joanne Lutz’s home in Lake Paul. That was on Mother’s Day and Joanne had her mother, Eileen Casey, Berwick, in attendance as a supper guest. Yvonne is Eileen’s sister. In addition to Eileen, other supper guests were Jeremiah and Jessica Lutz. While here, Yvonne and Danine stayed at Yvonne’s other sister’s home, Eleanor and Leon Zwicker, in East Dalhousie and visited with other family members.

On May 20th, Eleanor Zwicker hosted an 80th birthday party for her sister, Eileen Casey, at her home in East Dalhousie. This was also a farewell party for Yvonne and Danine who were returning home the following day. There were 28 people in attendance. Eileen received cards, gifts and flowers. On her actual birthday, May 24, Sonia Gaul, Kentville, paid her a visit.

At the Berwick Library May 31 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the Book Club 150 features Christy Ann Conlin. Fairy cakes and haunted tea provided.

On June 1, the Christ Church luncheons start up at 238 Commercial Street, Berwick. Same great food and people – casseroles, meat dishes, salads, homemade bread and rolls and delectable desserts. The time is 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the cost is $10. Come on out and enjoy.

At the South Berwick Community Centre, May 23, the following were the winners of 45s: first, Shirley Rogers; second, Calvin Ward; third, Judy Drew. The last card party in the hall is May 30.

At the Rebekah Hall, May 20, there were four tables of 45s in play. Prizewinne­rs were first, Arthur Salsman; second, Roxie Redden; third, Carol Garland.
