Paintball bandits strike Bridgetown, Annapolis RCMP confirm

saw the llamas get out of their secure pen. The animals were already back in custody when RCMP arrived. Both animals are known to police.

-- June 12 at 2:43 p.m. at Middleton. Police received a wallet that was found in Middleton. RCMP were able to contact the owner and made arrangemen­ts to return the wallet.

-- June 12 at 3:59 p.m. at Wilmot. Police received a report of a theft of a motor vehicle. A back BMW was stolen from a parking lot in Wilmot and was heading towards Kingston. The suspect was identified and later located and arrested in connection with three pharmacy robberies and a gas-and-go. A 32-year-old man has been charged with numerous offenses.

-- June 12 at 6:26 p.m. at Middleton. Police responded to a complaint of assault at a residence. Police went to the scene and after taking a statement from the alleged victim arrested a 20-year-old man for assault, being unlawfully at a dwelling place, and failing to comply with an undertakin­g. He will appear in court at a later date.

-- June 13 at 5:13 a.m. at Middleton. Police were called to a 911 hold-up call at the NEEDS store in Middleton. Police received informatio­n that a man was outside with a knife in one hand and Bible in the other. The man was not wearing a shirt. Police found the man across the street. He was agitated and did not respond to police demands to drop the knife. The conducted energy weapon was used to assist police in making an arrest. The man was taken to hospital for observatio­n. Upon his release he was taken before a judge and was sent for a 30-day psychiatri­c assessment and will appear in court at a later date. He’s been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault on a police officer, and assault with a weapon.

-- June 13 at 7:47 p.m. at Deep Brook. Police received a complaint of a woman driving an ATV with a 15-month-old baby on her lap. The woman was driving up and down the road with no helmet. Police went to the area and located the woman driving the ATV who apologized and said it would not happen again.

-- June 13 at 10:23 p.m. at Deep Brook. Police conducted a checkstop on Highway 1. About 50 vehicles were checked and there was one seven-day suspension issued for an alcohol-related infraction. There were five additional checkstops throughout the county during the week.

-- June 14 at 8:48 a.m. at St. Croix Cove. Police received a complaint of mischief where someone poured paint on the floor of the church. Police attended but were unable to get into the church to investigat­e. Police have opened an investigat­ion and will take statements and other exhibits if possible.

-- June 14 at 4:50 p.m. at Clementspo­rt. Police received a complainan­t of a break-and-enter into a seasonal cottage. The caller reported that the break-in happened in the last five weeks. There was minor damage to the door and nothing appears to have been taken. The complainan­t believes someone may have broken in to use the building as a shelter.

-- June 14 at 8:55 p.m. at Wilmot. Police received a report of the theft of a green canoe. The theft took place sometime in the last two weeks and the canoe had been seen for sale on Kijiji. Police located a canoe with the same serial number. It was returned to its rightful owner with out incident. The complainan­t is happy to have their property back and does not wish to lay charges.

-- June 14 at 11:06 p.m. at Bridgetown. Police received a complaint of suspicious activity where the caller reported their house being hit by something. Police went to the scene and were able to confirm that the house was hit by paintballs. There was minor damage to the house.

-- June 15 at 12:06 a.m. at Bridgetown. Police responded to a complaint of mischief. The caller heard noise outside. When the he got up to see what was happening he saw there was a paintball rolling on his floor. The complainan­t was able to see a person running away from the house. Police made extensive patrols throughout Bridgetown but were unable to locate any suspects.

-- June 15 at 4:01 p.m. at Wilmot. Police were called to a possible traffic hazard. Two horses were loose on the Bayard Road headed toward Highway 1. Police went to the scene and with the help of a good Samaritan were able to capture the criminals and return them to custody.

-- June 15 at 6:35 p.m. at Bridgetown. Police were called to a dispute between neighbours where one neighbour’s dog was reported to be doing its ‘business’ on the other person’s lawn. Police went to the location to mediate and witnessed the animal in question preforming the act. Police advised one neighbour to contact the Animal Control Officer if it happened again and the owner of the guilty dog to not let it happen again.

-- June 15 at 8:38 p.m. at Cornwallis Park. A caller complained that neighbours were playing loud music and she couldn’t sleep. When she asked them to turn it down they yelled at her from inside the house. Police advised that they could do nothing because the municipal noise bylaw did not go into effect until later in the evening. But police did talk to the partiers who agreed to turn the music down.

-- June 16 at 12:40 a.m. at Middleton. Police received an anonymous complaint of loud noise coming from a garage in Middleton. Police attended and found a couple of people in the garage working on a car listening to music. They were asked to turn the music down and they complied.

-- June 16 at 5:59 p.m. at Albany. Police received a complaint of a break-in to a cottage. The caller reported that entry was gained via a small window in the front of the cottage. Alcohol, food, trail cams, and loose change were stolen. The break-in is under investigat­ion.

-- June 16 at 7:57 p.m. Granville Ferry. Police charged a woman with speeding on Highway 1 in Granville Ferry. If found guilty she will pay a fine of $237.50. Police stopped and charged 12 other drivers within the county during the week.

-- June 17 at 9:02 a.m. at Nictaux. Police received a complaint of a theft of a vehicle that occurred at a business sometime overnight. A 2002 Dodge Caravan was stolen. The vehicle was located near Waterville, Kings County. The vehicle was seized for fingerprin­ting and the file is still under investigat­ion.

-- June 18 at 1:06 a.m. at Bridgetown. Police received a complaint of mischief where the caller reported two male youth had just passed him shooting off paintball guns. Police will follow up at the school in Bridgetown to see if the suspects can be identified.

-- June 18 at 1:08 a.m. at Bridgetown. Police received another complaint where the caller reported their house being shot up by paintballs. Police patrolled the area.

-- June 18 at 12:26 p.m. at Wilmot. Police received a report of a theft of a license plate. The plate, Nova Scotia AXK 377, was stolen from a truck sometime overnight on June 18. The stolen plate has been added to the database of the Canadian Police Informatio­n Centre. If you see this license plate, please report it to the police.

-- June 19 at 1:48 a.m. at Graywood. Police were called to a domestic incident on Highway 8. Following an investigat­ion police took a 27-year-old man into custody. The man has been charged with assault with a weapon, assault, impaired operation of a motor vehicle, and firearms-related offenses. He will appear in court at a later date.
