West Kings brings home provincials silver
Dalbrae Dragons win NSSAF Division 2 provincials with 3-0 over Wolverines
The championship final of the NSSAF Division 2 high school hockey girls provincials was a 3-0 win for the Dalbrae Dragons and a silver finish for the West Kings Wolverines.
The championship final was played March 25 at the Mariners Centre in Yarmouth.
It was a much closer contest than when the two teams had faced off in the round robin as Dalbrae had won that game over West Kings 7-0.
The Dragons had dominated the round robin play of the girls provincials tournament with a 9-0 win over Par-en-bas, a 7-0 win over Yarmouth, an 11-0 win over Middleton and the 7-0 win over West Kings.
Dalbrae was West King’s only loss of the round robin.

West Kings has five graduating players: Brooklyn Bishop, Leah Alders, Kennedy Burns, Emma Murphy and Sarah Morgan.
Other Valley Team
The other team from the Valley competing at the D2 provincials was Middleton, who lost to Par-en-bas 4-1 in the round robin. Scoring for Middleton in that game was Kinzee Veinot assisted by Paige Banks and Trinity Chesley.
Middleton had a 2-1 win over Yarmouth. Goal scorers were Carly Durnford assisted by Brielle Bagnal and Kaylee Ross; and Leah Verinot assisted by Tristen Saltzman and Kelsea Garnett.
Middleton has three graduating players: Kyra Wheaton, Leah Veinor, and Brielle Bagnall.
Boys Tournament
NSSAF Division 3 boys hockey provincials were also held in Yarmouth March 23-25. The Barrington Barons won the championship with a 2-1 overtime win in the final against Dalbrae.
