Valley lacrosse season opens with 3-2 road trip

-

Three divisions of Valley Thunder Lacrosse opened the club’s 10th season May 5, taking to the road for a meet-up in Trenton with the Pictou County Snipers and the Cape Breton Warriors.

Making their debut in a Nova Scotia peewee league for nonmetro clubs, the VTL Peewees first met Pictou. The game was a great way for both clubs to break the ice on a fast and furious lacrosse season, with Pictou coming out on top 6-4. VTL goals came from Antonie Tringle, two; Alex Lambert and Emma Ryan. In an afternoon match against Cape Breton, the Valley Peewees came back for a 6-3 win, with goals from Erika Swinamer, two; Joseph Wood, Kylian Halloway, Danton Bagnell and Alex Lambert.

The Valley Bantams met their Pictou counterparts for a nonleague, single match-up, taking an 11-1 win from a game that was closer than the score accounts for. VTL goals came from Jamison Keddy, three; Hunter Lalonde, three; Cayden Peters, two; Garrett Gaulton, Alex Lambert and Erika Swinamer.

The Valley Midgets booked in a non-league double-header against Cape Breton, taking an 8-6 loss in game one. Valley goals were marked by Brady Connell, two; Gavin Best, two; Mackie Connors and Logan Gesner. In the afternoon re-match, Valley came back to take an 11-2 win, with goals from Ryan Gesner, three; Ryan Scholte, three; Carson Peters, two; Best, two; and Connors.

Valley Thunder Lacrosse plays box lacrosse in the Kingston and Berwick rinks April through June, with divisions for mini-tykes to midget athletes. For more information, visit valleylacrosse.ca, Valley Thunder Lacrosse on Facebook or follow valleythunderlacrosse on Instagram.
