Annapolis Valley Register - - ARTS -

It’s a Celtic Christmas at King’s Theatre with Winnipeg’s awardwinning singer-songwriter Lizzy Hoyt and her trio of musicians.

They will perform at King’s Theatre on Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. The seasonal show, called “Ancient Carols for a Winter’s Night,” will deliver music with soaring melodies that are rooted in Celtic and folk traditions. Hoyt has a huge following in the West, and local audiences will be delighted to discover not only her gorgeous voice, but that she’s a master of the fiddle, guitar, and harp. And she step dances too.

Hoyt is known for bringing Canadian history to life with music, her songs have garnered awards and nominations while also connecting strongly with audiences across the country. In 2013, she was awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal by the Governor General of Canada for her outstanding contribution to commemorating Canadian veterans and history through music.

A talented multi-instrumental- ist, Hoyt toured for 10 years as a side musician before pursuing her own projects. She has been praised for her mastery of the fiddle, guitar and harp, and her voice has been described as “otherworldly”, “angelic”, “sweet” and “pure.” Her extraordinary musicianship has been recognized for its clarity and precision.
