Rotaract Kingstec group a first for Nova Scotia Community College

A recently established student leadership group is the first of its kind at the Nova Scotia Community College ( NSCC) and members are already working on their first project.

Rotaract Kingstec was launched recently with a special event at the NSCC Kingstec Campus in Kentville involving students, faculty advisors, NSCC staff, Rotarians and the Rotary International district governor.

The student group has been founded in partnership with Rotary International and, spe- cifically, the New Minas Sunrise Rotary Club. Rotaract provides interested students with an opportunity to contribute directly to and make a positive impact on the community.

Rotaract Kingstec executive members include president Jessica Reddick, vice- president Dominique Smith, secretary Nicole Peel and treasurer Emms De Guzman. They attended the launch, as did New Minas Sunrise Rotary Club president Mark Vardy and Rotary International District Governor Robert Christie.

The unique aspect of this relationship is the reach of Rotary, an international organization that has a civic footprint in all corners of the globe.

With service as its core value, Rotaract Kingstec has wasted little time developing its first project. In concert with NSCC Alumni, members are creating a Student-Alumni Network whereby mentorship and connectivity impact community service.

The mantra of the Rotaract Kingstec group is “Learn. Connect. Serve. Inspire.”
