Kentville police officer recognized for finding, dousing garage fire
A police officer has been recognized for preventing what could have become a structure fire at a home in downtown Kentville.
Const. Kevin Lutz received a certificate of recognition from the Town of Kentville after he discovered a garage on fire at a home on Main Street near Elm Avenue in August.
Lutz noticed a strange smell at about 1 a.m. while working an overnight shift and drove around until he found its source – a garage on fire near a house. He parked his car and immediately called for backup, and noticed the family was still inside as he worked to extinguish the fire.
