Native Council plans meeting about Bill S-3 implications
The Native Council of Nova Scotia is hoping interested residents of Kings, Queens, and Lunenburg counties will attend a Collaborative Process meeting Nov. 24 in Bridgewater.
The council said the meeting is in regards to “Bill S-3, An Act to amend the Indian Act in response to the Superior Court of Quebec decision in Descheneaux c. Canada (Procureur général).”
The council said people who are NonStatus Indian, or residents in Kings, Queens, and Lunenburg counties, can attend the meeting to find out how the Descheneaux decision may affect them or someone they know to be eligible to be registered as a Status Indian.
The Descheneaux Collaborative Process meeting is set for Nov. 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Days Inn & Conference Center by Wyndham Bridgewater - Bridgewater.
There will be lunch and child care provided. Transportation will be available for those travelling a distance of 20 kilometres or more.
