Na­tive Coun­cil plans meet­ing about Bill S-3 im­pli­ca­tions

The Na­tive Coun­cil of Nova Sco­tia is hop­ing in­ter­ested res­i­dents of Kings, Queens, and Lunen­burg coun­ties will at­tend a Col­lab­o­ra­tive Process meet­ing Nov. 24 in Bridge­wa­ter.

The coun­cil said the meet­ing is in re­gards to “Bill S-3, An Act to amend the In­dian Act in re­sponse to the Su­pe­rior Court of Que­bec de­ci­sion in Desch­e­neaux c. Canada (Pro­cureur général).”

The coun­cil said peo­ple who are NonS­ta­tus In­dian, or res­i­dents in Kings, Queens, and Lunen­burg coun­ties, can at­tend the meet­ing to find out how the Desch­e­neaux de­ci­sion may af­fect them or some­one they know to be el­i­gi­ble to be reg­is­tered as a Sta­tus In­dian.

The Desch­e­neaux Col­lab­o­ra­tive Process meet­ing is set for Nov. 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Days Inn & Con­fer­ence Cen­ter by Wyn­d­ham Bridge­wa­ter - Bridge­wa­ter.

There will be lunch and child care pro­vided. Trans­porta­tion will be avail­able for those trav­el­ling a dis­tance of 20 kilo­me­tres or more.
