Music lovers and singers are in for a big treat on Dec. 8 as soulinspired singer-songwriter Coco Love Alcorn delivers a concert at King’s Theatre in Annapolis Royal in the evening and a singing workshop in the afternoon.

Participants in the workshop, which is free with a concert ticket, will form a “pop-up choir” that will perform with her during

the concert.

Described as one of the most charismatic, compelling, and genuine performers in Canada, the Antigonish-born artist has an ability to deliver shows that are an empowering, inspiring, and unforgettable experience.

“Coco is the ultimate musical spark plug… an electrical connector through which the creative energy flows,” said renowned Canadian singer-songwriter James Keelaghan, who with Dave Gunning recently performed at King’s Theatre. “In my 30 years of touring around the world, I have never seen another performer able to bring people together like Coco does.”

Her now- legendary work with choirs started in the fall of 2014 when she released a video of herself performing a looper-layered song called ‘ The River’ with her own voice singing five- part harmony. Something amazing and unexpected happened. The video started to spread across the Internet and into the world of community choirs. These choirs started to learn Coco’s looper arrangement and perform ‘ The River’ in their own concerts.

To date, there are about 20 choirs singing ‘ The River’ across Canada, the United States and even in the UK. As this was happening, her new music was inspiring choirs to sing her songs, and these choirs, in turn, were inspiring her. And as she travelled across Canada performing between recording and home time, these new songs became infused with the spirit of connection.

Her career has spanned more than 20 years, 10 albums, crossCanada tours, collaborations, festival appearances, award nominations, and notable success in TV and film licensing.

Her newest release is called ‘ Wonderland,’ a collection of songs that are an invitation to connect, an invitation to sing.
