Students in the Options and Opportunities class at Bridgetown Regional Community School hosted their annual Craft & Market Expo recently with tons of tables of local crafts and other products just in time for Christmas.

The two- day event at the school’s community space attracted a large number of venders, included displays from local groups like the fire depart- ment.

Options and Opportunities is a Nova Scotia Department of Education program that helps prepare high school students for successful transition from high school to the post-secondary education needed to pursue their chosen career paths.

“The program focuses on helping students achieve their academic potential, gives direction and support in developing goals and potential career pathways, and encourages students to commit to a new approach to their learning,” the department’s website says.

O2 provides students with a wide variety of experiences, including multiple opportunities for co-operative education, where students learn in community and workplace settings, link their in- school learning to the workplace, and have the chance to confirm their interest in that career path, it said.

The Bridgetown students have operated their own businesses over the years, including a catering business, a DJ business, and graphic design – including printing T- Shirts. The Craft & Expo Market is a fundraiser to help support the program and its projects. This year, there were big crowds as the annual event becomes a local tradition anticipated by vendors and shoppers alike.
