Bad driving, drunk driving, but no animal calls made for a weird week for Annapolis District RCMP. Following are some of the calls:

OCT. 27

PARADISE – Police received reports of a silver Toyota all over the road, almost causing collisions with oncoming traffic. RCMP located the vehicle and spoke with the driver. There were no signs of impairment but the driver was warned to pay more attention.

LOWER CLARENCE – Caller reported hunters on land that has signs posted NO HUNTING. The officer located the hunter who stated he did not see the signs but will abide by them in the future.

Hmmmm, if he couldn’t see the signs, chances are the deer have a good head start!

OCT. 28

MEADOWVALE – A caller reported his cousin passed away and now his cousin’s ex girlfriend posted a Go Fund Me page to look for funds to cover the funeral costs. The issue is it appears she didn’t contribute any of those funds toward the funeral. RCMP are investigating.

MIDDLETON – Police received reports of smoke alarms going off at the Bistro 300. Fire and police attended and the main floor was full of smoke. No fire but the cause was determined to be that of a burned out fuse and wiring in a cooler.

CLEMENTSPORT – Police received a report of vandalism to a local antique shop along with a theft of a glass pumpkin.

HILLSBURN – Police received reports of a car in ditch - the lone occupant being a dog. By the time the officer arrived, the ‘dog gone’ vehicle was gone.

OCT. 29

WILMOT – A caller reported vehicles speeding past a stopped school bus with children present. The RCMP remind the public about the Safely to School Act. Under this proposed bill, failing to stop for a school bus with flashing red lights may increase to 10 demerit points from ones’ license, in addition to a six-month suspension, and a maximum fine of up to $5,000.

BRIDGETOWN – RCMP received reports of a vehicle in the ditch. The embankment was steep and the vehicle was on its roof. The driver was taken by EHS for precautionary measures.

MELVERN SQUARE – Police received complaints of speeding dump trucks down the road which causes vibrations. RCMP spoke to the owner of the company who denied claims. RCMP have increased patrols.

MIDDLETON – An employee at Tim Horton’s called to report that a driver recklessly pulled into the parking lot, ran over the curb and almost hit the building. The driver then left the premises. The officer located the owner of the vehicle and she will be having a nononsense chat with her daughter!

OCT. 30

DEEP BROOK – A caller reported that while doing traffic control, a vehicle failed to obey a stop sign and drove right through. The driver was located by police.

OCT. 31

CLEMENTSPORT – There was a break and enter at an antique shop in which a variety of tools were stolen. RCMP are requesting any information be reported to the Annapolis District RCMP.

MIDDLETON – A caller reported that while walking across the cross walk with her grandson, she was almost struck by a large truck. Police located the owner of the truck and had a few words.

MIDDLETON – A caller reported a vehicle swerving all the road and into oncoming traffic. The vehicle pulled into Tim Horton’s. The officers located the vehicle and its owner in Tim’s. Road-side screening test was done and the driver given a 90-day suspension along with his doubledouble!

MIDDLETON – Police received a call about a loud banging noise but the caller was afraid to look out the window and see what it was. The RCMP, using advanced investigation skills, were able to determine the loud banging was from a broken screen door.

NOV. 1

MARGRETSVILLE – A red Jeep Cherokee was found in a ditch with no occupants. Blood was found in the vehicle so Police K9 services was called. The investigation remains open.

WALDEC – There were reports of a tree across the road. I guess the tree must have been “poplar” as the RCMP and DOT both attended.

BRIDGETOWN – Police received reports of yet another vehicle all over the road, crossing the centre line and having near misses with other vehicles. The vehicle was located and the owner spoken with. The owner admitted to his less-than-stellar driving but stated it was because of the wind. The officer was “blown away” with this explanation and warned the driver to pay more attention!

PARADISE – A caller reported a male knocked on her door and attempted to get her to buy a cell phone. She politely declined and the suspect left on his bike. Patrols were made but door-to-door cell phone salesman (not really) was not located.

NICTAUX – More bad driving! A caller reported that another vehicle came around the corner and almost hit her vehicle. The caller followed the vehicle to the driver’s home and spoke with him. She stated he was not remorseful or concerned so she felt if the police called him, he may be more concerned!
