PROJECT FUNDING
Other Annapolis Valley projects to receive a portion of the $796,925 in ACOA funding include:
• Bent Ridge Winery Ltd. has received $212,970 ($202,000 repayable) to construct a pavilion for up to 150 guests overlooking orchards, vineyards and the Avon Valley. The structure will include a bar, kitchen, washrooms and parking. The new space will enable the winery to host larger groups and events, such as weddings, to increase visitation during the winter and shoulder tourism seasons.
• McConnell Gordon Estates Ltd., operating as Benjamin Bridge Vineyards, has received a $100,000 non-repayable grant to expand, weather protect and heat its outdoor terraces. This will create accessible, year-round space for visitors and events. The project also supports the construction of an onsite outdoor skating rink to help build the vineyard’s winter tourism offerings.
• Nova Ski Limited, operating as Ski Martock, has received a $100,000 non-repayable grant to improve its snow-making equipment, hill, chairlift, maintenance vehicles and rental and training gear. The upgrades will help the ski hill offer a high-quality experience and attract more visitors to the region.
• Luckett Farms Ltd., operating as Luckett Vineyards, has received a $99,705 non-repayable grant to create new indoor space by enclosing a portion of its open-air patio with a steel frame, and adding windows and doors. The project will extend the vineyard’s cellar door season, creating and sustaining jobs, as well as enhancing off-season tourism in the area.
• The Magic Winery Bus Ltd. has received a $19,250 nonrepayable grant to undertake marketing activities to elevate its brand to reach and attract more visitors. It will also expand and diversify its wine destination experiences, particularly in the shoulder tourism season, to promote Nova Scotia wine and support local wineries.
