Weekend split for Under-15 Wildcats
Valley loses to Cougars, defeats Rangers
The Kings Mutual Valley Wildcats split a pair of weekend games in the Nova Scotia Under-15 Major Hockey League.
Valley lost 8-5 to the Joneljim Cougars Jan. 28 at the Kings Mutual Century Centre in Berwick and defeated The Rangers 7-1 Jan. 29 in Lantz. Valley improved to 7-15-2-4 while the Rangers are 9-17-2-0 and the Cougars are 13-10-2-2.
The Wildcats have a pair of road games this weekend. They are in Pictou County to play the WearWell Bombers on Saturday, Feb. 4, and in Dartmouth to play the
Whalers on Sunday, Feb. 5.

COUGARS 8 WILDCATS 5
Cohen MacIsaac and Madden Gillis each scored twice for the Cougars while singles went to Jax Ginnish, captain Brody Dawson, Tucker Sinclair and Nicholas BasqueChristmas.
Brody Walker had two assists for the North Sydneybased Cougars, who held 4-1 and 4-3 period leads, while Cohen McNeil, Gavin Sudds, Mitchell Gould and Sinclair each had one.
Carsen Pearl recorded a hat trick for the home side while Nolan Fletcher and Drake Ledson each had a goal and an assist. Captain Jesse Sinclair had four helpers while Jacob Seaman chipped in two and Erik Popma one.
Kayden Mollons made 16 saves for the win while Crosby DePiero stopped 19 shots in the loss.
WILDCATS 7 RANGERS 1
Sinclair had the hat trick while Hunter Hood tallied twice against The Rangers.
Luke Forse and Ledson each had a goal and an assist as the visitors built 2-0 and 4-0 period leads. Sam Stoddart had two assists while Jeremy MacDonald, Caleb Rutt, Kellan Miller, Pearl and Hood each contributed one.
Noah Hawco unassisted accounted for the home side’s goal.
Maddox Neumann made 22 saves for the win while Cameron Moore was peppered with 35 shots.
