HOW TO BE A HIPPIE 101

Annex Post - - CURRENTS -

We’ve got you covered on what to eat, wear & listen to.

CRUELTY-FREE EATS

For starters, there is the all-natural, gluten-free vegan food at Doug McNish’s Mythology Diner. Popular chains like Fresh and Kupfert & Kim never fail, but aside from the healthy options (vegans can indulge too!) there are spots like Doomie’s and sweets at Bloomer’s that are too tasty to pass up.

SUSTAINABLE FASHION

Local designers have been tapping in to the sustainable fashion trend with everything from vegan leather to locally sourced labour and materials. Check out Toronto brands such as the Peggy Sue Collection, Matt & Nat, Miik, and Triarchy who focus on ethical and sustainable practices.

ACTIVIST ARTISTS

Local musicians from Lido Pimienta to Kaia Kater, Steph Cameron and more are pushing social and political messages through their music and performances. It brings us back to the hippie heyday with artists like Buffy Sainte-Marie who are still using music to inspire and create change.
