The Toronto Police Service (TPS) is warning the public of ongoing distraction thefts. Reports of two incidents that occurred Aug. 18 in the St. Clair Avenue West and Avenue Road area indicate that a female suspect approached victims pretending to ask for directions. She then proceeded to place an item around the victim’s neck while removing any jewellery being worn. The two victims were both elderly females in their 90s. The suspect was seen fleeing with a male suspect in a four-door white sedan. TPS believes the two suspects are still active in the area. Anyone with information is urged to come forward.
A 68-year-old male suspect has been charged with multiple counts of child pornography–related crimes as a result of a search warrant in the area of Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue East.
