We’ve seen the heart­warm­ing cof­fee com­mer­cials of the Kenya Ice Lions hockey team brought over­seas to play the game they love in the coun­try that in­vented the sport. NHL su­per­stars were added and a dream came true. But it didn’t end when the cam­eras stopped rolling. Thanks to lo­cal res­i­dent Garry Mercer, the Lions got in a game of shinny at West­wood Arena with Mercer’s own friends and fam­ily. “We played two hours of hockey with them. We were beat. They didn’t want to stop,” he said to the Toronto Star. Now that’s hockey.
