Vancouver Police urge driver to come forward in fatal hit and run

Vancouver: Vancouver Police are investigat­ing a fatal hit-and-run collision that has claimed the life of a pedestrian, and are appealing to the driver to come forward. Just after 3:00 a.m. on Thursday morning, a passerby called police after he discovered a man who appeared to have been struck and seriously injured by a vehicle on Kingsway near Glenn Drive.

The pedestrian, a 39-year-old Vancouver man, died shortly after being taken to hospital. Informatio­n gathered so far indicates that a vehicle was heading east on Kingsway when it struck the pedestrian and then left the scene. The driver has not been identified.

Investigat­ors with the VPD’S Collison Investigat­ion Unit believe the vehicle involved will have front-end damage, including a broken headlight. Vancouver Police are asking the driver, or anyone with informatio­n about this incident, to call the Collision Investigat­ion Unit at 604-717- 3012 or Crime Stoppers anonymousl­y at 1-800-222-8477.
