Trudeau’s border failure allows for access to the highest bidder: Scheer

-

Ottawa: The Honourable Andrew Scheer, Leader of Canada’s Conservatives and the Official Opposition, issued a statement following charges laid against an individual for organizing illegal entries into Canada in exchange for compensation:

“Justin Trudeau’s ongoing failure to the secure Canada’s border from a steady influx of illegal border crossers has reached a new low. After causing massive delays and backlogs for law-abiding asylum-seekers and racking up $1.6 billion in costs to accommodate illegal crossers, we now know access to Canada is being sold to the highest bidder. “Now more than ever, Trudeau must take swift action to fix the mess he has made, as the situation at the border grows ever more chaotic. Canada’s immigration system must prioritize the world’s most vulnerable. It cannot be gamed to the benefit of those who can pay. “Indeed, the Trudeau Liberals have made a mockery of our immigration system, to the point that people coming from upstate New York with enough money can jump the queue ahead of legitimate refugees fleeing terror, violence, and persecution abroad.

“We have known for some time that Trudeau’s failure at the border has caused delays and cost hundreds of millions of dollars. But this latest development calls into question the fundamental integrity of our immigration system. Access to Canada should not be up for sale.
