Doc­tors in Toronto, and other cities, can now is­sue pre­scrip­tions for free vis­its to places such as the Royal On­tario Mu­seum or for ac­tiv­i­ties like yoga classes. On­tario's Min­istry of Health and Long-Term Care is fund­ing a pilot pro­gram to test out the idea of so­cial pre­scrip­tions for non-clin­i­cal ser­vices, across the prov­ince. It runs for an­other year un­til De­cem­ber 2019. The ROM has de­vel­oped a so­cial pre­scrip­tion pro­gram that kicks off this month wherein it is of­fer­ing 5,000 free passes to those with the ap­pro­pri­ate re­fer­rals.
