Showcasing an exciting blend of extraordinar y features, Astoria Custom Homes finds creative balance in the heart of Watermark at Bearspaw. Built with pride and passion, Astoria Custom Homes is a boutique builder of luxury homes, providing their own measure of quality that exceeds the standard in custom development. A family-owned and operated company that undertakes only a few new build and renovation projects per year, customer care, quality, and design are their prime focus. “At Astoria, we love what we do. Our in house team takes care of everything from concept to completion to ensure that our clients have an excellent customer experience when building their dream home,” shares partner Lisa Stinson. “What sets us apart is that we take the time to get to know each of our customers and strive to understand their Dream Home vision.”
Guided by their owners, James and Lisa Stinson are personally involved with each build, having earned exceptional levels of customer satisfaction ratings along with numerous industry awards. “Our dedication to the art of homebuilding redefines home-building excellence by crafting timeless, elegant homes. Many of our trades have been with us since we began in 2001, building Astoria luxury homes with uncompromising quality and craftsmanship,” says Lisa.
Desiring for their show home, The Manhattan, an innovative design with inspired living spaces, Astoria opted to appeal to a professional family with a home that could offer a lot of flexibility. Hosting over 3,500 square feet above grade and over 1,500 square feet of lower level living areas, it features two bedrooms with ensuites upstairs, the master on the main, and two additional bedrooms on the lower level where a games room, juice bar, media room, and yoga studio extend recreation.
Featuring prolific natural stone, wood finishes, and abundant sunlight, modern glass railings are paired with the warmth of rustic wood floors. “We love blending styles throughout our homes,” affirms Lisa. “Every member of our team contributed to the Manhattan and we gathered input from our customers who look for natural finishes, luxury, and a maintenance free lifestyle.”
The heart of the home features a large two-story living area, with a gourmet kitchen that flows into the open dining area all within view of the full height fireplace. “We wanted something unique from this design and crafted a well organized, flexible home that is
convertible into a bungalow version. In addition to the large, open living spaces, abundant cabinets afford a clutter and stress-free existence,” shares James.
“The Manhattan offers a more contemporary look and feel with warmer elements that include wood finishes and rustic pieces and our customers are loving the combination,” shares Lisa. The La Cornue dual-fuel range with its black, silver, and gold vintage look was part of this inspiration of pairing old with new, displaying rustic warmth with sleek styling.
Wanting the home to be unique, functional, and appeal to a wide demographic, they are humbled by all of the positive comments that lead them to believe that they have hit the mark. “At Astoria we dream bigger and are delighted that our vision resonates with our show home visitors,” admits Stinson. “We continuously hear ‘wow’. They love the look and would feel equally at home baking cookies or having a glass of wine with friends.”
Louis XIV white oak hardwoods anchor main floor flows, where the open layouts host an eye-catching maple staircase that features 10 ml. glass inserts with stunning overlook views. The natural walnut fireplace features large-format polished Calacatta marble on the surround.
An alluring combination of cedar accents, Eldorado Stacked Stone, and black metal clad windows provide a memorable viewscape with exposed aggregate and Midnight Black asphalt shingles.
