Proud to celebrate the 40th anniversary of doing what they love, K&W Audio empowers the modern home by creating wholehouse management systems. Well-known for high-end home entertainment systems and keeping with ongoing technological advances that follow hand-in-hand, their latest project embodies their passion.

K&W Audio completed some home automation work for this Calgary family, which lead to their next project—a home theatre for their friends, family, and especially grandchildren to enjoy. A basement renovation set the stage and the client decided he wanted the best home theater he could get. “Technically and design-wise, if it was something he wanted, he got it,” says owner Darren Lane.

“We spent a lot of time on the design and used our expertise to provide a result that we hoped would exceed the customers’ expectations,” shares Lane. Partnering with Lobello Manufacturing, a high-end millwork shop, prolific use of exotic Madagascar Ebony defines the decor with smooth styling and electric appeal.

Equipped with motion simulators in the custom theatre seats by D-BOX, the client also wanted a big, vibrant image with powerful sound. “The speakers are Martin Logan electrostatics, a high-performance audiophile type of speaker. This system offers space, air and slam—all at the same time,” explains Lane. It also features a 4K-laser projector with an anamorphic lens. Together they deliver the absolute best picture quality in the wider cinema aspect ratio on the over eleven-foot wide screen, and the system is operated easily by a Control4 automation system.

Overlooking the eye- catching décor, the coffered ceiling is enhanced with beautiful wood cross beam details accommodating multiple speakers for the latest in Dolby ATMOS surround sound. A full wet bar further affords convenience with style. “The LED lighting system can even provide any color desired to create the mood to match the genre of entertainment. Red certainly looks great when viewing Mad Max!” notes Lane.

As an experienced and knowledgeable provider of high-quality audio/video solutions for decades, Lane admits, “People make tremendous investments in their home, so why not present it in its best light?”
