WE ASKED IEN WHAT SHE’S BEEN
I’m reading a book called Luster by Raven Leilani for The Social Chapter book club. Also, Terry McMillan’s Who Asked You? and I just started Diane Keaton’s latest memoir Brother & Sister. The other book I’m about to start is Forever Terry, edited by Terry Fox’s brother, Darrell — he’s shared prominent Canadian’s stories on how Terry has impacted their lives, and included stories about his brother.
It’s my old-school tunes that are getting me through these days — Motown, everything from Diana Ross & the Supremes, The Temptations and Lionel Richie, as well as artists like Barry Manilow, Stephanie Mills, and Nas. It’s mostly 50s, 60s and some 70s music, which all soothe my soul. My sister is seven years older than me, so her music is my music, and it’s now my kids’ music, too.
I just got into Gilmore Girls and Sweet Magnolias. I also just finished binge-watching Umbrella Academy. And basketball — that always gives me life.
