A scrambled inflation picture: Eggs are up, ham is down

Inflation has started to pick up in the U.S., but it hasn’t hit all goods and services equally. Fifty-four of the 187 components of the consumer price index were at least 1 percent less expensive in January than they were a year earlier. Below is a look at some of the items in the CPI that became costlier in the last 12 months and some that became cheaper.
