Mid-Century-Modern House With Casita
Blending seamlessly into the hills of Palm Springs is a historic home that exemplifies California desert luxury. It is located in the eclectic and coveted Mesa neighborhood, a community comprised of about 180 properties known for architectural styles ranging from Spanish to mid-century modern. (High-profile residents include Barry Manilow.) This 2,684-square-foot home was designed in 1959 by Hugh Kaptur, an American architect responsible for popularizing the Desert Modernism aesthetic. Described as “one of the finest examples of hillside architecture in Palm Springs,” the structure is embedded in the surrounding landscape of ornate rock beds, cactus plants and palm trees.
The home’s indoor/outdoor concept allows guests to experience the desert’s tranquillity from sunrise to sunset. Enjoy views of three mountain ranges, the cityscape of Palm Springs, and valley floors all from the property. The three-bedroom, four-bathroom home comfortably accommodates six guests. Amenities include a custom saline pool with two infinity edges, integrated spa, tanning shelf, fire pit, full chef’s kitchen and barbecue area. Two of the three bedrooms are in the main house, with the third bedroom located in the property’s detached casita, connected through an outdoor dining space. (All bedrooms are outfitted with Four Seasons kingsized mattresses.) The property also features a concierge staff to assist guests.
The house can be rented through StayOne, a luxury vacation home rental community that vets both the owner and renter. StayOne offers a curated collection of more than 3,500 properties in over 250 destinations, and this year partnered with Mandarin Oriental Exclusive Homes. stayone.com
