Urban living in small-town setting
The latest condo development for Today’s Communities is in the heart of Airdrie.
It’s located along the vibrant revitalization of First Street, where new streetlamps and landscaping are just the start of a resurgence that includes new businesses and residences to pave the way for urban living in a small city.
The street is right next to the main hub of Airdrie, so it’s close to everything.
Such amenities mean Airdrie is attracting young and old alike — people who are looking for city conveniences with a small-town flavour.
Smith’s Crossing is a four-storey apartment condominium with the first floor dedicated to commercial/retail. The three floors above that are all one-and two-bedroom condominium units with balco- nies and open living spaces.
The units range from 676 square feet to 927 square feet and all have heated underground parking and storage lockers for each unit. Ceilings on the second and third floor are nine-feet high, with the fourth floor ceilings eight feet, nine inches.
A total of 18 units are in the complex and 12 have already sold, despite the fact the official opening of Smith’s Crossing was just last week.
“The majority of purchasers are in the midst of downsizing and appreciate the proximity of Smith’s Crossing to the shops, restaurants and recreation is only a few blocks away,” says Erin Kerr, who is marketing co-ordinator for Unity Builders Group, the parent company of Today’s Homes.
The show suite contains 906 square feet of space.
Right from the front door, the two-bedroom, two-bathroom unit is open and inviting.
The home opens up to the kitchen on the right, followed by a small area for the nook, then the great room with access to the balcony.
It’s all visible as soon as you enter the suite.
The kitchen is in an L-shape, with cupboards that wrap around the corner. They’re made of maple wood in a warm, rich brown stain.
Standards in the home are high. The countertops are granite — a dark grey with brown in the show suite — and appliances are stainless steel.
A full appliance package is supplied, including a washer and dryer and stainless steel kitchen appliances.
A full-height backsplash in the kitchen fills the walls between upper and lower cabinets.
From the foyer, the storage cupboard is to the left and it’s a good size. Not only does it hold the stacked washer and dryer, it also has room to keep many other items.
The great room ahead is a good size and contains a corner gas fireplace that’s built right into the wall, allowing the tile surround to be flush to the wall surface.
Double slider doors lead to the balcony, where a half wall provides some privacy for suites on the second floor. The top floors have rails.
The two bedrooms are separated from each other, again to maximize privacy for homeowners. They are at each side of the main living area.
For convenience, the second bedroom on the right is adjacent to the main bathroom.
The master suite on the left has a walk-in closet and full ensuite with a tub/shower combination unit.
