The project is what Blair calls “a community within a community.”
While Evanston, itself, has many attractions, Evanston Square adds to that with extra features.
These include a central courtyard for the exclusive use of Evanston Square residents that can be designed however they see fit — be it a private park, dog walk, meeting place, or something else.
It creates a mini-community within the larger Evanston area, making it more exclusive, smaller and private for homeowners.
“The design concept was quite simple for Evanston Square,” says Blair. “The lay of the land lends itself perfectly to provide a community within a community.”
Evanston Square consists of three different housing types: condominiums, townhomes with garages, and back-to-back townhomes.
The townhomes with garages, which are built along the perimeter of the square, are oriented to the street, adding to the development’s attractiveness.
Evanston Square is the first of many projects that will involve “a unique collaboration between Qualico Communities and Streetside Developments,” says Blair.
There is often a significant contrast between multi-family homes and single-family housing, says Lisa Feist, who looks after sales and marketing for Streetside.
Once the land is sold to a multi-family company, it often designs the project to fit the market — with little regard to the architecture of the surrounding community, she says.
It can result in a sudden transition between single-family homes and the wall of apartment buildings to come.
That’s about to change with Streetside, says Feist. “We have elected to minimize density and blend the building form to keep a subtle integration of product in the neighbourhood.”
It is being undertaken in collaboration with the land developer, which in this case is Qualico Communities.
Look for that teamwork in future projects, says Feist, adding it will be a collaboration with all stakeholders, including neighbours.
It will result in increased sales, says Blair. “We look forward to introducing new buyers into our fold with these unique projects.”
Evanston Square is the first multi-family development in Evanston — and its three types of housing offer many choices.
Some of the interior features standard in all homes include:
Choice of three colour palettes with optional upgrades.
Crafted cabinets in a variety of colour options and profiles.
Plush, stain-resistant carpet with seven-pound underlay.
