McKen­zie Towne in the south­east quad­rant is a Brook­field Res­i­den­tial Prop­er­ties’ mas­ter­planned com­mu­nity that was the first in Canada to ex­ten­sively use the neo-tra­di­tional theme through­out with a se­ries of smaller “vil­lages” within the de­vel­op­ment.

A true ur­ban vil­lage con­cept of mixed-use de­vel­op­ment has won many ac­co­lades over the years, in­clud­ing be­ing named one of the Great Planned Com­mu­ni­ties by the Ur­ban Land In­sti­tute in 2002.

In a book cel­e­brat­ing the neigh­bour­hoods named, it says these are “some of the best ex­am­ples of in­no­va­tion in the de­sign and de­vel­op­ment of mas­ter-planned com­mu­ni­ties around the world.”

McKen­zie Towne boasts many small parks and green spaces, the High Street re­tail area, paths, ponds and walk­ways and all types of hous­ing.

The neigh­bour­hood is near­ing com­ple­tion.
