GRAPES ON THE VINE

Calgary Herald New Condos - - Recreation & Investment Properties - — Barb Livingstone

Temperatures in Osoyoos, B.C., typically exceed 38 C in the summer for short periods of time. Winters are generally dry and mild. While still a major fruit-producing area, many orchards now grow grapes for the award-winning reds, whites, fruit wines and icewines of the burgeoning Okanagan wine industry.

More than 20 wineries are located within a 20-minute drive of Osoyoos — in town, on the Black Sage Bench and the Golden Mile, with more wineries to the west in the Similkameen Valley.
