‘Bridging’ the gap
Mcpherson Place only Phase 2 project in the works, with just nine units left
From Memorial Drive near the zoo exit, progress on Mcpherson Place is visible. The tower is rising up, marking the start of longawaited buildings in Phase 2 of The Bridges redevelopment in the inner-city community of Bridgeland.
It’s the only building in Phase 2 of The Bridges project that has broken ground. Three other developers bought the four sites of Phase 2 in 2006. With the recession affecting business, the builders were given a reprieve until 2014 to start their projects.
While other builders would be keen to get in on Phase 2, the City of Calgary, which is the developer of the lands, won’t allow the sites to change ownership. So the keen must cool their heels until the last phase is put out for sale early next year.
