City rental industry honoured in awards
The Calgary Residential Rental Association honoured the bright spots of its industry from the past year at a recent awards ceremony.
Seventeen awards were handed out at the association’s ninth annual awards gala, which was attended by almost 200 people.
A property managed by Realstar Management took home top honours in the largest of the building categories.
Lakeview Mews was named building of the year in the 101-plus unit category. The two-building property is located at 2528 66th Ave. S.W.
Somerset Apartment Homes was named building of the year in the 51 to 100 unit category. The property, which is managed by Weidner Investment Services Inc., is located at 7000 Somervale Court S.W.
Victoria Gardens won the award for building of the year in the 21- to 50-unit category. It is located at 4812 4820 17th Ave. N.W. and is managed by Fireside Property Group.
Best Investment Properties earned building of the year in the 21 to 50 unit category. It is owned and managed by Andor Horvath and located at 323 5 Ave. N.E.
Three manager awards were handed out at the gala, including one for Pat Gardener of Vertica Resident Services for property manager of the year.
Brenda Williams with Realstar Management was named resident manager of the year, while Mona Dallmann was named landlord of the year.
Executive vice-president of Renfrew Insurance Bill Jeffray received a lifetime achievement award. Ed Watson with Hope Street Real Estate Corp. was named maintenance person of the year.
Two awards for outstanding service to tenants were handed out at the ceremony.
Patricia Graham of ExecSuite Inc. won the tenant service award for 49 units or less.
The tenant service award for 50 units or more was won by the Seniors Residence at the Colonel Belcher, a facility managed by Chartwell Seniors Housing.
ProStar Cleaning and Restoration won the award for small-size company customer service.
The large size company customer service award was earned by Fahrenheit 451 Fire and Security.
Junaid Malik, who works as a realtor for Re/Max House of Real Estate. captured the community service award.
ExactET Systems Inc. won the blue award, which recognizes commitment to water conservation. Harvest Recycle was honoured for its commitment to protecting the environment with the green award.
ExactET Systems Inc. also received a website award.
