Las Ve­gas means “the mead­ows” in Span­ish. Founded in 1905 and in­cor­po­rated March 16, 1911, the city cur­rently cov­ers 219.1 square kilo­me­tres.

Las Ve­gas, it­self, has a pop­u­la­tion of about 600,000, with an ad­di­tional 250,000 peo­ple liv­ing in the ad­join­ing city of Hen­der­son. More than 1.5 mil­lion to­tal live in the metropoli­tan Ve­gas area.

There are more than 30 golf cour­ses in the Las Ve­gas area, along with more than 1,700 gam­bling estab­lish­ments and more than 500 churches.

The city’s McCar­ran In­ter­na­tional Air­port is 1.6 kilo­me­tres from the strip and is ranked among the top 10 busiest air­ports in the world.
