Buyers warming up to villas in Fireside
People attracted to lock-and-leave lifestyle
It’s been an early bulls-eye for the target market of a new villa project by Calbridge Homes in Cochrane. A sales centre for the Clearbrook Villas in the community of Fireside opened recently with much of the early interest coming from snow birds.
“It’s the demographic that we’re going after,” says area manager Todd Terry. “The people who have been asking for this are finally getting it.”
Clearbrook Villas is a 28-unit, attached bungalow project that Terry describes as a “lock-and-leave” development — an ideal choice for buyers who want to escape to sunnier climes during the winter.
“They don’t have to worry about snow removal or landscaping,” says Terry.
Retirees who purchase a smaller home to avoid the upkeep of a larger house are often called downsizers — but Todd says in this case, it would be right-sizing.
“People think they have to sacrifice on quality and service to afford Scottsdale or wherever they want to go for the winter,” says Terry.
But with this project, “they’re getting very good quality — something they’re used to.”
That includes high-end finishes available in four packages that are colour co-ordinator by professional decorators, says Terry.
“We find people really like this because you don’t have time to go to 18 different vendors. Here, you can walk in and it’s done,” he says.
The villas are offered in three models, including the 1,418-square-foot Ash, 1,246-square-foot Foxtail and 1,372-square-foot Willow.
All three models come in one-bedroom and one-and-a-half bathroom layouts. They have either full basements, walk-outs that back on to a nearby park, or “sunshine basements” with four-foot-tall windows and plenty of natural light.
The basements have enough space to add another two bedrooms, along with a bathroom and a media centre, says Terry.
The villas can also be developed to include a loft.
The sales and experience centre is located at 3 Fireside Gate. Fireside is a community master planned by La Vita Land.
Calbridge Homes has another villa project called Artesia in De Winton just south of Calgary.
