Find your Zen within Ven
Open floor plan perfect for hosting
Ven offers the intersection of stylish condo living in a vibrant urban village setting.
The 115-unit, four-storey condo building by Bucci Developments Ltd. is to be nestled up against McHugh Bluff on a quiet street in the inner-city neighbourhood of Sunnyside.
The A Plan show suite in the sales centre, now open above the Broken Plate restaurant on 10th Street N.W., is a one-bedroom, one-bathroom unit of 645 square feet. Location of the show home.
Its clean lines and openconcept living space make it an inviting place to entertain.
However, it has enough room to retain privacy.
The entrance opens into the edge of the kitchen to the left, with a generous storage and closet room to the right. The apartment is airy, with nine-foot ceilings and pot lights.
The kitchen is sleek, with a white honeycomb tile backsplash above a light quartz countertop and slender, finger-width, stainless-steel hardware on the wood laminate cabinets.
The peninsula has seating for three at the extended edge. Stainless-steel appliances include a full-sized fridge by Fisher and Paykell for shopping convenience, a full gas range, oven, overthe-range microwave and dishwasher.
Under-cabinet lighting comfortably illuminates the work area. The U-shaped space is easy to move around, and all that a cook would need is within easy reach.
Wood flooring is found in the main living space, with tile in the bathroom and carpet in the bedroom.
The great room is long, with room for a sit-down dining area, entertainment centre, and comfortable couches and chairs.
The wall of windows at the end of the great room provides natural light to the main room, as well as access to the patio or deck.
Ground-level condos have direct sidewalk access from their patios.
The bathroom has two entrances and is accessible from the front foyer, next to the closet with stacked laundry, as well as from the master bedroom via the walkthrough closet.
In the bathroom, the long custom-framed mirror has a floating storage shelf below. The marble countertop establishes a lux feel.
It offers soft under-counter motion-sensor lighting, ensuring no stumbles in the dark.
The bathroom features a soaker tub, as well as a glasswalled shower.
The bedroom offers space for a king-sized bed, as well as natural light from the large windows. It has a door into the great room.
The show suite displays the Solstice palette, the lighter of the two choices available to buyers.
The darker Equinox palette is also sexy, with black honeycomb and variegated, almost tiger-striped look to the wood laminate cabinets.
Each unit has outdoor patio or deck space with a builtin gas line for a barbecue. The Ven patios are larger than Bucci’s Next project in Bridgeland by at least a foot in depth.
Each unit comes with a storage locker in the parking garage. One bedroom units come with a single underground parking stall, while the two bedrooms come with two stalls in a tandem configuration.
The building’s exterior architecture is similar to Bucci’s smaller Tribeca condo project in the community of Mission.
Ven is a wood-frame building, with a four-centimetre layer of concrete between floors to further dampen sound between units.
A small taste of the eightfoot wide by 20-foot tall living wall — a piece of art made from living plants — that will grace Ven’s lobby is on display at the sales centre.
Sales started March 8 and about half of the project was sold in two weeks. Construction is planned to begin in May, with possessions expected in the early spring of 2015.
Floor plans range in size from 644 to 1,348 square feet and are priced between $300,000 and $720,000.
