Edison complex has eureka moment
Sells out first three of 20 buildings
A new condo development in southeast Calgary has sparked plenty of early interest from home buyers.
After launching last November, Edison in Walden has sold out its first three of 20 buildings.
Edison is a stylish project boasting three-storey townhomes by multi-family builder Avi Urban. Its name was inspired by famed inventor Thomas Edison, who came up with the electric light bulb.
“Homeowners have chosen Edison because they value great design in a highly modern neighbourhood,” says sales and marketing manager Chris Pollen.
Walden is known for its contemporary streetscape and is master-planned by Genstar Development Corp.
Pollen says buyers are also drawn to Edison because of its standard features, which include a two-car garage and driveway, and airy nine-foot ceilings on the main floor.
There are also doors that give each unit personality, he says. “The ability to choose the colour of their front door has also been a major appeal for our homeowners, because they get to personalize their home and make it their own,” says Pollen.
The kitchens have fullheight backsplashes made of glass mosaic tiles. They also include a full appliance package and extended-height custom cabinets.
Townhomes range from the 1,130-square-foot Saffron model to the 1,400-squarefoot Carmine corner home. These homes start from the $260,000s.
“In Edison at Walden, we’re seeing a real mix of buyers, from single professionals purchasing their first home to retirees who are looking for that low-mainte- nance lifestyle,” says Pollen.
Edison will break ground this month. A sales centre for the project is at 285 Walden Drive S.E. It’s open Mondays through Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and weekends from noon to 5 p.m.
