Riverside tranquility at villas
Waterside living part of project within Cochrane
There is nothing like the sound of flowing water and the beauty of nature to calm frazzled nerves, elevate spirits and create an ambience of tranquillity.
Now, buyers can experience the joys of waterside living in a luxurious lock-and-leave villa in Cochrane nestled beside the banks of the Bow River.
Designed and developed by Jayman MasterBuilt, RiverReach Villas and Manors are a recently-released collection of 41 upscale riverside villas in The Riviera — the newest enclave in Riversong.
“There is just nothing like this in Calgary — and certainly not for this price point.” says Rebecca Schidlowsky, sales associated for Jayman MasterBuilt.
The RiverReach villas are designed to the gold standards of the BuiltGreen program, an industry-led initiative that promotes eco-friendly, sustainable housing.
The villas are grouped in pods of four homes, which consist of two mirror bungalow villas on either end and a pair of two-storey manor townhomes in the centre.
The architecture complements the colours and topography of the surrounding landscape. Buyers can choose from three different styles: Rocky Mountain, Shingle (Cape Codinspired) and Arts and Crafts.
Each building pod is swathed in a different colour, enhancing it with a unique feel.
The show home includes a four-villa-andmanor pod with Rocky Mountain architecture. The Edgewater is a 2,600-square-foot walkout bungalow villa whose square footage includes the lower level.
It is at once serene and peaceful thanks to river and nature reserve views, while at the same time exuding an aura of cosmopolitan glamour.
Fresh and upbeat, the Edgewater’s design puts an emphasis on polish and elegance. Maple hardwood floors, stained in a warm pewter, work beautifully with the soft grey walls.
The home brims with energy, taking reference from the flowing waters of the Bow River. Throughout the home, touches of bling and sparkle elevate the look, adding movement and an ambience of relaxed glam.
The open-concept main floor houses a large kitchen with an Lshaped counter and an oversized island topped in gold and silverveined granite, with a hint of diamond sparkle.
The pewter-coloured quartz countertop grounds the space and provides a neutral backdrop for the sparkling pendant lights and glitzy tile backsplash.
The kitchen defines the mid-point of the open space and creates flow to the great room, which extends to a large second-storey deck with views of the river and a nature reserve.
A private den joins a large foyer with a laundry room and powder room extending from the oversized, two-car, carriage-style garage. A second foyer extends from the front door.
The floor plan includes a master bedroom and an open dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows.
In the master bedroom, large floorto-ceiling windows capture the views. The grand ensuite features dual sinks and sparkling granite.
The organically inspired tub tucks nicely into the corner beside the freestanding glass shower. Its soft, curved edges instil a quiet sense of luxury that encourages long, lingering soaks.
The Italian porcelain tile flooring and backsplash is in keeping with the luxury esthetic. The lower level is perfect for entertaining and includes a well appointed wet bar, along with a great room with a fireplace. French doors extend to a patio and green space overlooking the river.
Two large and bright secondary bedrooms finish the lower-level floor plan.
Immersed in 40 hectares of environmental reserve, Riviera features a multitude of ecofriendly features, including wind turbines to provide power to amenity spaces such as the neighbourhood parks and tot lots.
Walking paths along the Bow River connect to a pedestrian bridge that joins Riviera with downtown Cochrane. Residents have direct access to the banks of the Bow and the beauty of the river.
Sales have been swift, with most buyers coming from Calgary, Schidlowsky says.
“They realize that they want to be close to the river and they want a lock-and-leave type of lifestyle, but they can’t afford it in Calgary,” she says — adding many empty nesters are making the move 10 years before they thought they would.
“Cochrane is pulling them in. The fact that we are close to the mountains is definitely a big draw.”
The Edgewater show home, with all of the upgrades, finishings and custom draperies, is priced at $739,900, including GST. The base model starts at $665,000, including basement development.
