Solstice uses space smartly
Jayman offers roomy, units in Cochrane
If the question is kitchen or great room, this duplex answers “yes”.
Some duplexes don’t have the square footage to fit an impressive great room and functional kitchen in the same floor plan. But the smart use of space in the Solstice means there’s no need to compromise.
The Solstice is a 1,541-squarefoot duplex by Innovations by Jayman in the scenic Cochrane community of Riversong. This community is known for its surrounding natural beauty, including close proximity to the Bow River.
The kitchen in this home is an open and airy design with plenty of room for people on both sides of its island and eating bar. This makes it an ideal entertaining space, where guests can sit at the eating bar and chat while the host puts the finishing touches on dinner. The island has a sink and two light fixtures above it. On one side of the island there’s built-in shelving, perfect for tucking away but still showing off some of the home’s best-looking dishes.
The kitchen also has stainless steel appliances, an over-the- range microwave and a stylish, full-height backsplash. On one end of the kitchen there’s a walk-in pantry with four rows of tight mesh wire shelves.
Adjacent to the kitchen is a dining area, which sits along the rear-facing wall with glass doors that access an optional back deck.
This makes it an easy few steps carrying a plate stacked with steaks or ribs from the barbecue to the dinner table.
In the back left corner of the home, there’s a generouslysized great room. Here, fullsized furniture is an easy fit. The main floor also contains a half-bathroom and broom closet.
Stairs to the second floor are accessed off the kitchen. The second floor includes three bedrooms, but in this model there’s the handy option to pull in a fourth bedroom. This is done by removing its corner bonus room. The standard plan places two bedrooms side-byside along one wall and the master bedroom looks out at the front yard.
The full bathroom is in a convenient spot, across the hall from the two secondary bedrooms. It has a shower and tub unit, towering mirror, tile backsplash and a large window. In the master bedroom, one wall accesses a walk-in closet and the ensuite.
The home has an unfinished basement, but there are options to develop a lower level ranging from 355- to-403- square feet with a family room, full bathroom and fourth bedroom. This creates a private space for a teenager, grown child or guest.
