I have a cou­ple of ques­tions I’ve re­ceived from read­ers to share with you to­day and would like your in­put on them. I’ll kick off with one that is bound to get the de­bate go­ing.

JT writes to ask about tip­ping for wine ser­vice. He says that he and his wife typ­i­cally tip 15 to 20 per cent of their full (pre-tax) bill — in­clud­ing wine if the ser­vice mer­its it. But while on va­ca­tion they en­joyed a spe­cial meal at a spe­cial restau­rant where they chose a $315 bot­tle. (1999 Beau­cas­tel Chateauneu­f-du-Pape). The meal was ex­cel­lent, the ser­vice fine, the evening a suc­cess. The bill was $510, in­clu­sive of the wine. So, how to tip?
