JAYMAN: Community’s atmosphere attractive
Along with townhomes, Jayman also builds duplexes in Sunset Ridge. The Jayman MasterBuilt builds semi-estate homes in the community, as well.
The Wilsons bought a threebedroom unit at the townhome project and moved in last February after selling their home in Canmore. They bought an end unit, “so we have more windows on the north side,” adds Susan.
Sunset Ridge is a community by Melcor Developments featuring a central park, pathways, linear parks and a 2.4-hectare freshwater pond off Highway 22.
The Wilsons liked Cochrane from the get-go. It’s close enough for Michael to commute to his job in Canmore and offers the atmosphere they were looking for, says Susan, adding, “Calgary is just too big for me.
“Now that I’ve lived in smaller towns such as Canmore, I really like the small town feel. It’s great,” adds Susan, who ran a day home in Canmore and does the same in Cochrane. “We like to get out in the back country and hike. This is the happy medium.”
Many buyers at the development have pointed out Sunset Ridge as an ideal landing spot, says Myers.
“Most have sought out the location within Cochrane as a prerequisite to their purchase,” Myers adds. “In addition to the stunning views available throughout the community, Sunset Ridge provides easy access to shopping, professional services and to schools.”
Construction on a kindergarten to Grade 8 school is set to start late this summer.
Jayman’s development includes 41 townhomes, with prices starting from $304,900, including tax. At press time, the complex was 80 per cent sold. These are twostorey homes with an optional basement. They range from 1,250 to 1,295 square feet and come in two- and three-bedroom orientations. These units feature openconcept designs and plenty of storage space.
A sales centre for the project and a show suite are located at 24 Sunset Rd.
“As soon as I walked in the show home, I just knew it. It was like I jumped inside and said, ‘Yeah, this is it!’” says Susan. “I just thought, this is exactly what we’re looking for and the layout and everything was really nice.”
The project has a number of quick-possession homes now available, including two of the 1,250-square-foot Glacier plan and two more of Wapta, which is 1,265 square feet. There’s also the 1,291-square-foot Peyto and two variations of the Crowfoot floor plan.
“We have an incredibly diverse group purchasing in this community, from snowbirds to first-time buyers,” says Myers.
