The cachet of living in the finest property in town is seductive for the world’s billionaires — and dreamers, too.
But with large-scale lateral square footage at a premium in city centres, property developers are building upward, creating some of the most lavish new skyscrapers in the world’s most prestigious neighbourhoods.
Billionaire.com ranked the most lavish highrise apartment blocks money can buy based on price of the penthouse and the average price per square foot. Not surprisingly, properties in London and New York came out on top: 1. One Hyde Park, London Average price per square foot: $9,906 US. Penthouse: $226.9 million US. 2. 432 Park Avenue, New York Average price per square foot: $6,742 US. Penthouse: $95 million US. 3. One57, New York Average price per square foot: $6,600 US. Penthouse: $90 million US.
