Bandits, Saints stars share top honour
Jarret Granberg of the Brooks Bandits and Connor Hardowa of the Spruce Grove Saints will share the most valuable player award for the 2008-09 Alberta Junior Hockey League season.
Hardowa also was recognized as the top defenceman.
Among other major award winners announced Thursday, Chad Carder of the Grande Prairie Storm recorded a league-leading 2.02 goals-against average and .922 save percentage en route to earning the top goaltender distinction.
Meanwhile, Corban Knight of the Okotoks Oilers was selected AJHL rookie of the year. Knight led all rookies in scoring with 72 points in 61 games and completed the regular season eighth overall in the league scoring race.
Steve Hamilton of the Fort Saskatchewan Traders was coach of the year.
