Re: “Knee patients bypass long waits,” Jan. 27.

Thank you for your coverage of the acute knee in- jury clinic at the University of Calgary’s Sport Medicine Centre. The clinic is a true success story amid much negative publicity regarding health care in Alberta.

When my daughter tore her anterior cruciate ligament in December, media coverage of emergency department wait times, surgery wait times and the Stephen Duckett incident was at its height. Finding the clinic, with its quick response time, was a huge relief. The staff were professional, caring, efficient and knowledgeable.

A thorough physical exam of the knee confirmed that my daughter had completely torn her ACL and, without the need for an MRI, we were able to move straight to the treatment phase. We feel so fortunate to have found the clinic; its story needs to be told, and emulated.
