Miller favours Argos’ Barker as top coach
During what has turned out to be an off-season of change for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, some things have remained the same.
For the third straight year, Ken Miller is a finalist for the CFL coach-of-the-year award. Miller, Jim Barker of the Toronto Argonauts and Marc Trestman of the Montreal Alouettes are the nominees for the award, which is be announced Feb. 25 in Vancouver.
Another sign of business as usual is that the Roughriders are remaining in Regina for training camp. The team had studied the possibility of holding its 2011 training camp in Saskatoon, but ran into logistical issues that will keep that from taking place.
Miller is a finalist for the coach-of-the-year award even though he’s no longer the Riders’ head coach. Miller resigned as head coach Dec. 2, days after the Riders were beaten 21-18 in the Grey Cup game by the Trestman-led Alouettes.
