Stone wins silver
Canadian snowboarder Zach Stone is on a roll. The 19-year-old from Collingwood, Ont., captured a silver medal Thursday at a FIS World Cup big air event in Denver, marking the second straight event he’s come away with a silver.
“I’m super stoked and don’t really know what to say. I’m happy that I stayed on my feet,” said Stone, who won silver at the world championships 12 days ago.
Stone has returned to competition this season after taking a two-year hiatus.
In his World Cup big air debut on Thursday, he landed a backside 1260 and a backside 1080 double cork and scored 50.8 points.
Robby Balharry of Canmore was fifth.
