Police suspect home invasion in Penbrooke was targeted robbery

CRIME • A home invasion that saw a Penbrooke couple tied up and robbed Wednesday is not believed to be a random attack, police say.

Three men forced their way into a home, in the 6100 block of Penworth Road S.E., around 2:30 a.m.

One man had a gun and the home occupants were zapped with a Taser. The women told police she and her husband were tied up and their home ransacked as culprits demanded money. The man was assaulted, police say.

After the three robbers fled, the woman freed herself and called for help.

Police say the victims did not know the attackers, but the incident is not believed to be random.

One of the robbers was described as a white male, early 20s, slim to medium build, six feet tall, black baseball cap, black hoodie, black pants and vinyl shoes. He was carrying a handgun.

Another robber was also a white male, in his early 20s, slim to medium build, five foot eight to five foot ten inches tall and wearing all black clothing.

There was no description of the third man.
