Green hopes to return Saturday

MikeGreen, the Washington Capitals’ all-star defenceman, is hoping to return from a concussion in time for Saturday’s season finale against the Florida Panthers.

The Calgarian has missed 19 games since being hit by New York Rangers forward Derek Stepan on Feb. 25.

Boudreau, the Caps coach, said Wednesday Green has been free of concussion symptoms for three weeks.

Green told he’s “been ready for a while. . . . I’m in shape, ready to go, so expect me to play (Saturday).’’

“He’s ready to play and, I mean, he’s been symptom-free for three weeks plus,’’ Boudreau told Washington Post. “It three-quarters just we’re trying to be as cautious as we can with things, just as other people are with guys that they have as concussions and could probably play, but they want to make 100 per cent sure.’’
