Name sought for transit smart card
London has the Oyster smart card, Montrealers use the Opus, Vancouver is getting the Compass . . . and Calgary Transit is letting the public decide what our prairie Oyster will be called.
Next June, the city will join the dozens of transit cities in which fare-payers tap smart cards against an electronic reader to ride buses or trains.
A contest launched Monday at calgarytransit.com/nameit asks for names for Calgary’s system. A committee will select three finalists, and the public will get to elect the winning name in July.
The winner gets six free months of transit passes.
