COSTA RICAN RESORT GOES FRACTIONAL

- — Marty Hope

Fractional home ownership has made its way to Costa Rica. Los Altos Beach Resort and Spa in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica, encompasses nine hectares of rain forest close to secluded beaches and coral reefs.

The resort consists of 28 spacious Balinese-style apartments, each with top-end appliances and fixtures, providing west-facing views of the Pacific Ocean from private balconies. The resort offers 1/8-share, deeded ownership combining all the benefits of full ownership at lower cost — and with all the amenities, services and conveniences of a resort hotel.

Manuel Antonio, named after its namesake National Park, is a serene yet adventurous six-block-square village with delightful restaurants, bars, bakeries, art galleries and gift shops, all fronted by the main beach and sport-fishing fleet. Manuel Antonio offers abundant natural resources, a rich and colourful culture, exceptional weather, and an endless range of outdoor activities.

Los Altos is just a 20-minute flight or 3.5-hour drive from San Jose International airport, with several daily flights from North America. Residences at Los Altos are available as both whole and fractional ownership. Whole-ownership residences range from $500,000 to $1.5 million US. Fractional ownership ranges from $110,000 to $350,000 for a 1/8 share.
