WMC custom builds teams

-

Every time they lead, they learn.

And decades of learning experience consulting, coaching and leading, gives clients access to an abundance of expertise.

Established in 1975, Western Management Consultants is an independent Canadian firm with offices in Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver and Toronto. It has grown steadily over the years and now employs 70 professionals across a variety of disciplines.

“With such a long-standing track record, we have been able to build teams of senior talent with people who are honest and who are good at what they do,” says WMC director Mauro Meneghetti. “We don’t have big teams of rookies and that gives our clients confidence.”

The firm offers a wide range of national management consulting services and is the only Canadian-based organization to be ranked as one of North America’s top 100 consultancies by Consultants News.

WMC’S mission is to assist clients in defining and implementing change — and in a growing city like Calgary, there is no shortage of clients looking for support as they manage change and growth.

The firm’s clients are diverse spanning an array of industries.

“We serve clients such as Suncor Energy, Enbridge Inc., Conocophillips Canada and the City of Calgary, but we also serve some very small, up-and-coming clients, as well,” says Meneghetti. “Our clients come to us based on the type of need they have to fulfil, and whether they are large or small, we can pro- vide a multi-functional approach.”

Leaders at WMC attribute the organization’s success to committing to four key priorities: building lasting relationships, providing the best resources, adding exceptional value and creating client capability and self-sufficiency.

“Our clients like our customized approach and the fact that we cut to the chase,” says Meneghetti. “We can address the complicated, multi-stakeholder project that’s urgent or critical. We’re the ones they call when it’s complex.”

The firm offers expertise in areas where it has proven competence and provides independent and objective consulting.

“Lots of management consulting firms process you to death,” says Meneghetti. “But our flexibility and nimbleness allows us to get down to business quickly and efficiently.”

Meneghetti says too often consultants address symptoms rather than the root causes, and professionals at WMC always look beyond the obvious.

WMC also uses strategic partnerships to ensure it remains relevant and current.

“Our relationship with (Calgary Economic Development president) Bruce Graham and his team has been instrumental in our success,” says Meneghetti.

“Calgary Economic Development weaves us into the business fabric of this city — whether that’s through key introductions, invitations to important events or through opportunities to provide input where it matters. It has truly made us part of the tapestry of the city’s business community.”
