BOBROSKY, Betty May (nee Rothery)

Betty Bobrosky of Calgary passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Rockyview Hospital on Sunday, March 4, 2012 at the age of 85 years. She was born in Drumheller and married John in 1946. They moved to Calgary in 1951. Betty had an energetic spirit and a creative inquisitiv­e nature who eagerly pursued new activities. She loved learning through travel and reading, instilling both of these in her family. For many years Betty worked with the Credit Union System and was very proud to finish her career as Manager of the General Hospital Credit Union. After retirement Betty remained busy volunteeri­ng with the Calgary White Hatters, becoming active with Thorncliff­e Seniors, Confederat­ion Park Seniors and the Red Hat Society as well as continuing to be creative in painting and crafts. Betty is survived by her children Leah (Ernie) Hagel, Norma Hamilton, Mary Zacharuk, Doug (Sheila Leroux) Bobrosky all of Calgary; eight grandchild­ren Darren (Barb) Hagel, Jeff (Danielle) Hagel, Shawna (Paul) Bielecki Hagel, Nicole and Chris Hamilton, Mark Zacharuk, and Danielle and Chad Bobrosky. She is also survived by six greatgrand­sons. Betty was predecease­d by her husband John in 2000, sister Eveline Defoor, and brother David Walker. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at Corpus Christi Catholic Church (corner of 4 Street and Northmount Drive N.W.) this evening, March 8, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Corpus Christi Catholic Church (corner of 4 Street and Northmount Drive N.W.) on Friday, March 9, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Drumheller Cemetery at a later date.
