Mummy movie reboot in the works

FILM • The Mummy will walk again. Universal Pictures is rebooting its Mummy movie franchise, with Prometheus writer Jon Spaihts writing the script. It is not known if the series’ stars, Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, will be involved in the reboot.

The first three films raked in more than $1 billion worldwide combined. The Mummy in 1999 took in $415 million, with 2001’s The Mummy Returns drawing $433 million and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor amassing $401 million in 2008, according to Box Office Mojo.
